1931 Deluxe Coupe Headlights
At sometime in it's life someone converted the headlights to sealed beam. I would like to take them back to stock configuration. What was used with the coupe? 1 bulb or 2 bulb?

Re: 1931 Deluxe Coupe Headlights
If it is a factory 31 deluxe coupe, it had cowl lights, and so would have one bulb headlamps. Having said that, it is your choice, unless you are planning to do fine point blue ribbon judging. I know a guy who uses his cowl lights for turn signals, and has two bulb headlamps, to get a parking beam in the headlamp.

Re: 1931 Deluxe Coupe Headlights
It's a driver I am just trying to keep a certain level of stock configuration. With a roll down back window I have a strong feeling it's a factory deluxe. The wood blocks for the cowl lights are certainly old enough.

Re: 1931 Deluxe Coupe Headlights
It's a one-bulb unit, like 2manycars says.
As far as turn signals in the headlights, have some one flash a small yellow light at you while at the same time shining a mag light in your eye and you'll see why that's probably not the best solution. :-) If you don't ever drive with your headlights on, it might be OK. I'm actually off to the garage to finish the turn signal installation I started last night. I'm using the cowl lights. Need to remember to get yellow bulbs. Steve 1931 Deluxe Coupe |

If you look closely, most new cars that have daytime running lights (law here in Canada) actually turn the headlight off on the side that the signal is operating. It comes right back on once the signal is cancelled. |

Re: 1931 Deluxe Coupe Headlights
I run turn signals in my headlights and they work very well. All I did was put a brighter bulb in. You can't believe just how well they show up. Try it before you go to your cowl lamps.

I guess all my modern cars are in the 5%. Our directionals are seen next to the headlamp with its own reflector that can be seen outside of the headlamp beam, not in the headlamp using the same reflector.
