Default '29 Dash Light

How do you replace the bulb inside the 1929 style of dash light? Also, is it possible to replate them?

Just twist and pull to remove the cover.

Yes, they can be replated.

I understand how the top can be replated once it is off. I was wondering if there is any special preperations I would need to make to the base. I apologise for not being so specific at first.

Thanks, I finally got the cover off. In my non-experience of having things plated it seems to me that it would be best to remove the wire, spring, and that "socket" thing inside before plating the base. Am I incorrect in assuming this?

Plating ain't cheap. Unless you're set on using the original, it might be more cost-effective just to buy a repro. They're only about $25 or half that for just the cap.

The repros do not work properly. Also, the repro caps will not fit an original light. But Cacey, I've got one here that I'll gladly trade for your original. Mine doesn't work, as I said, but it's nice and shiny.

About a month ago I was looking for something in cabinet when I came across a dash light that I tossed in a box. It was covered with something black so I did not want to use it. Took another look and a was just paint so I clean it off now I have a nice shiny original light but no cover. Also have a re pro which I don't like.Does any one have an original dash light cap for a 29 they would like to sell,

For some reason the covers are very hard to find, and when you find one it may be cracked. I can find nice shiney bases quite easily, but I could also use a good original cover.
