Ammeter Test
How can I test an ammeter? In the car is not an option as the car has no wiring in it or lights etc.

Re: Ammeter Test
Take a flash light battery and connect it across the terminals it should move.

Hook it in series to a globe.

Ammeter don't matter about voltage or polarity to see if it works. 6 or 12 battery pos or neg. 1 wire from batt to one side of ammeter. 1 wire from other side of ammeter to one terminal of headlight globe. 1 wire from other side of globe back to batt. Example...12 V battery 55 watt globe should make the ammeter go to 4.5 amps. If you just guess any wire, you have a 50/50 chance it will show 4.5 charge or discharge. It don't matter, it is just a test, and if it works one way it will work the other. Just swap wires. |
