Snomobiles
I went to the Ice Races today in NH, there are a number of vehicles that show up in addition to those racing. One of the vehicles to arrive for a spin on the frozen lake (not racing) was a home-built 30/31 Model A Snowmobile. Modeled after the Ossipee Snow Mobile kits of the '20's and '30's the rear tracks were handmade as were the front Skis. I asked the fellow changing out the front wheels, if he was the builder and he said "No", "He is" He pointed to a young fellow who looked to be not yet 20 to me. He then went on to tell me that the young fellow had taken his Drivers Test in a Model A. He showed up in it on Test day and the State Appointed Tester was not sure what to do. But since the law states that the vehicle must be legal for the road and nothing else, they went with it. I did not get to speak to the young man but he certainly will be a proponent of the hobby for some time to come, Viva the younger generation!
