Default 28-29 Roadster windshield

I'm rebuilding a 28 Roadster and bought a repop tub along with windshield stanchions and window frame. After getting everything together I found there is about a 2" gap from the bottom of the windshield frame to the top of the gas tank. The windshield frame is a standard 28-29 frame, about 14.5" tall. I talked to the guys at Snyders and they couldn't give me any advice on why there's a gap. Does anybody here have any suggestions on why I have this gap and what can be done to correct it? I have photos if that'll help

Sounds like maybe you're missing the dash rail that ties the two cowl posts together?
