1937 Ford part subsitution question
Hey
I'm evaluating my 37 p/u project and have a question regarding a missing part and if a substitution can work. My grill shell is missing the inner lower shell that directed the air to the radiator. This had been hard to find. I've never laid eyes on one in person or on the internet. I've no pattern to fab a replacement. Anybody with pictures would be appreciated. Can a 35-36 part be made to work or can I just go without one. Anyone else solve this problem? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks. |

Have you tried looking in a Ford Parts Book? You might be able to find a name and part number.

Re: 1937 Ford part subsitution question
Westcotts claim their fiberglass part, lower shield is the same from 35-37. Here's the link.
I didn't realize I would be looking for two parts? A shield and a pan?? They don't produce the pan. which is more important? http://www.wescottsauto.com/WebCatal...up-C52-C53.pdf Last edited by albertaboy; 06-22-2017 at 03:11 PM. Reason: brain fart |

Re: 1937 Ford part subsitution question
Truck and pickup are not interchangeable in Ford's way of identifying vehicles. A 1/2 ton and pickup are considered the same and the chassis is the same as a passenger car without what I call outriggers. Any cab on the larger chassis was considered a "truck". Pickups had the gas tank between the frame rails at the rear of the vehicle while the truck gas tank was beneath the driver seat.
BTW, it gets real complicated when you hear someone refer to a pickup truck. Oh well. |

My Green Bible arrived today. I can see how Ford used passenger, commercial and truck designations. I've lots of study material now. Thanks. |
