1930-31 Steering Wheel Taper
Hello,
I am searching for the taper on the steering shaft on 1930-31 Steering Shaft. Would anyone have the taper size. I am needing a reamer for the steering wheel. Please advise if have the size or know where I can buy a reamer. Thank you in advance. |

I assume a spiral-fluted reamer is needed to avoid hanging up on the keyway.

Re: 1930-31 Steering Wheel Taper
From measuring and several discussions about Ford steering shaft tapers the consensus is that they are 7 degree taper or 3.5 degrees per side. The repair reamers for ball joints are 7 degree types. Model A tapers are larger in diameter than the later Ford cars of the V8 era.
