It had to leak out somewhere. It doesn't evaporate.

Not everyone told you it was the best.
Pull the drums and you'll likely find the leak(s). It sure didn't evaporate.

19fordy is correct. I had the same situation as you. I was losing brake fluid, no brake pedal, with no obvious leak. It took a while to find the leak. It was not obvious at first, but eventually I found the leak in the right front drum’s brake cylinder. Keep looking, it’s there somewhere!

Once I had it in my '68 Corvette (when I did a complete brake rebuild), it was fine. Getting it in and bled was such a pain in the ass that Ill never use it again. It's just not worth the effort.

There has to be a reason that no (none that I know of anyway) automobile manufacturers use it OEM.

A couple reasons new car manufacturers Don't use dot 5 is that it would be
way more costly to put in ALL the new cars made, compared to dot 3 or 4.

The second reason is dot 5 don't work well with the super fast pumping
action of the anti-lock brake systems.

That's a "no-brainer"! This way, Mr Goodwrench et al can "urge" you to bring the vehicle in every two years for a recommended fluid R&R. Maybe I've been lucky, but I've never been a big advocate of changing brake fluid. One more thing.....our STOCK '37 Ford coupe has never, ever leaked one drop of brake fluid. DD

The other side of the coin. I don't use Silicone brake fluid in my wheel barrow either. However, I've had it in my '39 coupe since 1991. Never leaked, always a hard pedal and will slide the tires easily. All I've ever done is adjust the brakes when needed.

I like the dot 5 because it is not corrosive to paint. It also is not hydroscopic. I've hed it in my 49 for 45,000 miles and while I do need to add it periodically I do not have the other problems.

I believe you. I have very, very rarely had any leaks in my vehicles brake systems.
Sure, age can effect rubber pieces but again, properly built... no leaks.

Neither my modeA, or 36 will leak brake fluid, I used to have a 39,and a 46, got rid of them because of brake failures, leaks, pulling, grabbing brakes---
If you buy new wheel cylinders take them apart first to see if properly made-- holes drilled to top for bleeder, at center for fill, --- if re sleeved take them apart to inspect/clean out the chips from the machining process
Proper restoration to original specifications will eliminate brake fluid leaks and ensure reliable brakes

in the master cyl there is a check valve it,s purpose is to keep low pressure in the system. if the car sits for a long period of time it bleeds off .the wheel cyls relax & leak no car was built to sit for long periods of time. there is three things you can do to reduce this from happeing one way is install an after market check valve. second way is every week or two step on the brake pedal. third is drive the car . cars were meant to be driven i have seen a lot of traled show cars that are dry. no brake fluid no eng coolent empty battery empty fuel system drive your car thats what it was made for
