Unhappy Rear spare tire carrier brackets

I am putting together a Standard Late 1931 Roadster with a trunk. I have the "Z" shaped bracket which is a good solid original. The new spare tire outer panel brace, which supports the inside of the lower outer panel for the spare tire bracket is a re-pop. QUESTION: Were there different styles of these outer panel braces?? There in now a little less that an inch (7/8") of room; the repop is too high where the hole goes through. Thank You in Advance!!
