Fuel hoses
since I saw in another thread someone complaining about another gasoline and hose issue I thought I would start a thread and share what I had figured out.
Spend the 20 dollars and couple of hours and replace your existing hoses with a SAE 30R9 spec most of your fuel issues would go away. As soon as that spec came out I converted our car to that hose. I haven't had a fuel issue since. |

Re: Fuel hoses
Buy the fuel injection rated hose. It is far superior to the regular hose. It last for years.

Re: Fuel hoses
I have Robert Shewman hoses in both of my old Ford V8s. They have lasted for years. His ad is on page 111 of the latest V8 Times.

Re: Fuel hoses
Amazon has the SAE 30R9 spec hose (fuel injection to some of you) for $15 for 3' of 1/4" and $16 for 3' of 5/16"
ps, the spec is printed on the hose. "fuel injection" isn't. Save yourself some grief and buy the right hose |

Re: Fuel hoses
I recently went through this research. The “ normal “ hose is sae30R6 or R7. The good stuff is R9 or R14. The 14 is quality and long lasting but not for high pressure and was less $ than the R9.

Re: Fuel hoses
I guess my point was understand what the spec hose is. You waddle into a part store and ask for a fuel injection hose and the guy behind the counter says oh yeah this will work. As a consumer it's up to you to understand what you're buying.
Some people are trusting the parts counter guy to sell you the right piece. That is not necessarily the case. The spec is printed on the hose. |
