Default Apple Green Wheels...............

Powder Coated is nice but....they chip very easy. Anyone know of a close spot paint on the market that can match it good?

Thanks

Ed

Let me re-phrase this, Apple Green 'painted' wheels are OK, not as good as Powder Coated ones because they chip easy. Anyone know of an OK match in touch-up 'paint' for Apple Green 'painted' wheels?

Thanks

Ed

it depends on the formula paint that was used on your wheels..
go and get them scanned for the proper match..

i have seen 100 different shades of apple green as well as tacoma and vermillion

There are way too many "shades" of Apple Green to be able to get something "off the shelf". Best bet is to go to your professional automotive paint store and have them match/mix some for you. They can even put it in a rattle can if you so desire. For small quantities like that, the cost isn't all that great.

Ed, while we are in the mood of making clarifications, ...this really is not an accurate comment either. What really happens is the excess mil thickness is what makes any type of coating chip easier. If powder-applied paint were of the same thickness as a sprayed paint, it would chip just as easily.

DON'T try to match "GREEN APPLE QUICKSTEP"---It'll come out like a PUKEY BROWN

Ed,
Your wheels are not the same as the MAFCA/MARC, color chip paint manual. They will have to be color matched. I wouldn't worry about it for a single chip or two...
Paint is always hard to match. I am a fan of painting them vs powder... but I don't want to open that can of worms.

Well Larry, If the driver side spare was on the passenger side, I wouldn't see the ships every time I went to get in or out, but I do and it bugs me. Now you say, just switch the spares out but I would know they are still there and crying for my attention. So, I'll remove one spare and git it dun!!!! Beside, I see more chips happening done the road.

This all came up today while I was making my whitewalls sparkling white, then I noticed I needed to take the spares off to make them sparkling white and then I noticed the chips and I said.......can't live that!!!!!!!!!!

BTW, for all you whitewallers, a little soapy water, soft brush and some Simple Green makes them as white as fresh Depends on a Saturday night!!!! Ya!!! Doggies!!!!!!!!

I had thought that too because the coating is thick and chips off like five coats of enamel but Larry just said, they are painted and he should know better than me since he had her for awhile.

Take the wheels off the car, roll them out to the side of the barn.
Go in the house and grab a double barrel shotgun and stand back about 40 feet from the wheels. Give them each a shot and add some nice "patina". Stand a little closer for extra patina and a little further back for a more subdued finish.

now they will all match....................................
