Default Are You Looking for an Antique Clock for Your Car

Nice original car clocks are somewhat hard to find, but there are thousands of quality pocket watches on ebay all the time. I've even seen holders for the steering wheel to hold the pocket watch while you drive. If you have a closed car you could screw a small hook into the header to hold the watch.
Since there are thousands on ebay each day take your time and find one you like and make sure it works.
Here's one I bought last week, and I wound it up as soon as it came yesterday. After a day and a half it's still keeping perfect time. This one I got for $79 plus $5 shipping, so I thought that was a good buy for a quality time piece.
BTW, did you know that Studebaker owned South Bend?

I have been using a $5 (at the time I bought it) 'LeGant' Pocket Watch since 1965. I bought it at a Pawn Shop. It has the convenience of being able to move from car to car. It first was on my 1930 TownSedan, and has been on my '28 Phaeton for the last 40 years. Still works. Just have to wind it up - no batteries to go dead or be replaced. One wind-up lasts about 24 hours. It has a vintage leather fob, so it can hang from just about anywhere.

I have a pocket watch for my tudor that has the same date inside as the firewall date of the tudor.

Tom:

I went a slightly different route. I purchased the 12V 1785 old time electric clock. I installed in a dual gage holder, under the instrument panel, and next to the temperature gage. To power it, I bought a 8 AA battery holder from Radio Shack. So far, the batteries have completed the first season, and still perfect. I suspect 4 to maybe even 6 years. The clock uses very little power.

Thanks for the link. That'll come in handy as I have some other pocket watches. A few years ago I looked up what makes a watch a "RAILROAD WATCH", and found it has to be accurate to 30 seconds per week and has to be a certain size, such as 16. Size 16 is slightly larger than my size 12, but I don't know why size matters? Some railroads required that the watch be lever set so you can't accidentally change the time while winding it.

It's funny how railroads set the time standards for this country in the 1800's, but these days rarely run on time.

I have an old Longines pocket watch, tried to look it up on that site (pocketwatchdatabase.com) but they don't list Longines for some reason.

No idea, but I assume this is the same company that makes South Bend Lathes, right?

It's amazing the number of companies that used to exist, even in some of the smaller towns. When I was in 8th grade I spent the summer in Barberton, Ohio at my cousins house, and I can still remember all the small rubber companies in town. Now I don't know if there are any rubber companies still left in Akron/Barberton that make any rubber products.

Does anyone know anything about a "Crest" watch with the Ford logo?

I like the Phinney walker header clock. It is rim wind and has an 8 day movement for those longer Summer Tours!

1930 coupe, thanks for the suggestion, I did that and found out my watch was manufactured in Switzerland in 1928, 3 years prior to my CCPU.

I have a Waltham pocket watch, according to the database it is circa 1915, I`ve been looking for one of those holders for a while, not had any luck, might have to settle for a leather holder,
