Default '38 pickup pinstripe color

My friend is restoring a Washington Blue '38 pickup and is needing to know the original pinstripe color. Thanks for help. Jim

I can't say for sure if the '38-'39 pickups had a pinstripe. Commercial vehicles had the advantage of many paint colors or custom paint, signage or stripe.

My '39 pickup is Jefferson Blue and I had a pin stripe painted on in an off white to cream color. Looks good against the Jefferson Blue.

Im just a pup,but I have never seen a 38,39 with a single pin stripe .I have seen guys stripe all 3 bumps on the cab belt out on to the hood but it DID NOT look factory .I have found probably 15 trucks in the woods and wrecking yards, never seen a pinstripe.

I agree with you. I elected to stripe mine. I think it looks good. It breaks up the Jefferson Blue and black wheels and black wall tires.

I had pinstripes as well on all three bumps and I'm fairly certain they were original as the truck was just a farm truck and unrestored. Washington Blue with like a cream color pinstripe.

Hope they all worked. Original or not I don't know but this Ford has been in my family for 70 years and I know my grandpa would not pony up money on a farm truck that he got used on pinstripes. Gary

I have a barn stored dark maroon '38 pickup with faded red pinstripes on the bumps so I'm certain the stripes are factory. I just needed to know what color my friend should paint the stripes on his Washington blue pickup. Does anyone know the specific co;or name?

A little more food for thought. The dealers brochure shows pinstripes on a few drawings but most without. Extra cost option? Also none show pinstripes on hoodside panels.

On dark blue it would be Tacoma Cream. Which is a light cream color. It was used on wheels for Model As and V-8s.

Yep makes sense to me. It's ford right, color specific and color standard. I'd add just look to 38-39 car trim colors, bet they are the same offered.

Gary I have that ad, but I didn't see that prominent stripe. Nice work. No doubt it exists as an option.

Looking @ some of my pre-resurrection pictures I could not make out any pinstripes but the original paint was in very poor condition and smoke damaged from a previous storage location before I bought it.

Gary with more invaluable photos. My 39 is now Folkstone grey, will have it striped in red to match my wheels.

Mike will be looking for you in Fitchburg in a few weeks. Scott

Striping could have been a dealer option?
