With my FP voltage regulator, I have the best of both worlds I believe. Regulated battery charging, original generator. Have they started making them again? Last I heard they were NOT.

Stay away from the FP regulator. When (not if) it fails it may take your generator with it. Elegant circuitry, but flawed design. Unlikely it will be revived.

James Peterson claims 15 amp current limit, but I don't see a sensor in the output path. It looks like a good design though.

You can use a 6 volt or 12 volt regulator that were made for later 1930 or later Ford cars or tractors. The can be hidden somewhere or on the firewall, your choice. The third brush is disabled and the wire that normally goes to the third brush is lead to the field terminal on the regulator. An example is here: https://www.amazon.com/DB-Electrical..._t1_B019DHPRHG.

The Field terminal (FLD) goes to the wire that was removed from the third brush. The BAT terminal goes to the battery. The ARM terminal goes to the generator, either before or after the cut out. The regulators have a cutout built in so the old cutout can be bypassed. There are 2 wires going to the generator but they can be lead inside the conduit to be not visible.

Do not use the regulators for GM cars because the field function is different.
