It’s Dean’s from Bozeman, MT. A super nice guy I’ve met at swap meets and bought parts from. He’s a wealth of knowledge on the very early production A’s, he owns A495, a nice car!

That's the normal procedure. I gave up on stuff like this long ago; I have been "sniped" enough.

Years ago I was so smug because 'I was getting' a NOS gas tank for my BSA motorcycle for 125 bucks. For 3 days I was the highest bidder....From then on I only get something from the flea if I'm happy with the 'buy it now' price. Had great luck with that method.

Curious as to sale price also.
Sniping online is no different than at a live auction where standard winning buyer protocol is bid the most you want to pay at last opportunity. 40 plus years of live auction buying & observation has shown this as I stated.

The auction website lists selling prices for everything but the car and the snowmobiles. Not sure what the reason is. Maybe did not meet reserve?

At 68 years old, I have never been to a live auction of anything. No particular reason, must be because I live on a big rock surrounded by water....

By golly GB, you are missing out on one of the great experiences in life ! You get to get up at still dark thirty, drive 2 hours, have some lousy coffee and expensive hot dogs to wait all day for the one thing you want, and it sells for twice what its worth ! Seriously though, years ago when there was still farm auctions from the first generation of owners, it was lots of fun. too bad I was poor then, and today's farm auctions have been cleaned out more than once, and mostly the experience is what I first described

Guy I knew pasted last yr, we didn't see eye to eye on somethings when he was around due to some of my thinkings.. or his thinkings. Even though I went over to his house when he was at his end, so his wife could work. Talking cars was good-ish. He was a chevy guy and loved fox news.

I bought a couple things pre-auction from his wife. Gold it was. Went to the auction and paid pennies on the dollar later. I helped moving tractors around and putting parts in piles. Found myself bidding up chainsaws and tools, so the widow could make a bit of cash. Ran away with a lower 80s snap-on tool cab for 60$ and a 10'x 8' metal shelf for 25$ and tools. Spent about 1k total over all. If you have time to burn auctions, can be interesting.
