Have a leak on my motor mount/water inlet. Had it off several times and cant stop the leak, (small drip). Both mount and block scraped clean, cleaned with brake cleaner. New gasket every time. Used permatex aviation thread sealer tonight on bolts. Tired of taking it apart. Anyone had this problem? Thanks

Are you 100% certain you know where the leak is located?
If you are CERTAIN it's between the block and mount, I'd suggest you use two gaskets. Use the Permatex Black and follow the directions on the tube.

I'd listen to Mike. I have been chasing a small oil leak in my Corvette since the engine was rebuilt several years ago. Last week, we traced it down to a defective oil filler cap that was letting oil spray out on the top of the engine where it was leaking down onto the oil pan.

Thinking more on this I agree Kube's suggestion of triple checking for the source of the leak is a good one.

From what I've seen, many of the engine mounts (in use for 80 years) have eroded necks where the hose goes on resulting in them becoming shorter.

If you get to the point of wanting new mounts I've purchased sweet actual Ford engine mounts from Michael Driskell at thirdgenauto.com but other vendors who deal in parts will have them.

Yes and after removing ,cleaning and reassembly with NOS gaskets ,NOS mounts and sealer -still had coolant from somewhere. It was the water dripping down from w/pumps.Replaced them with new sealed bearing ones.No more leaks. I even had coolant drips at the left rear exhaust manifold bolt. Put high temp sealer on threads of new bolt.Still had drips. Stupid me did not check the copper head gasket seal at the rear of the deck.Seepage big time. Pulled the orig alu heads and replaced head gaskets with graphite ones and 3M spray copper adhesive.No more leaks.

Well it appears that one of the mounting bolts is leaking coolant through, what is the best sealant for this long term? Thanks for all reply's

I used Permatex # 59214 High temp thread sealant good to 400 degrees.
Permatex has another # 56521 High Performance thread sealer good to 300 degrees.
