Default Thru the roof antenna hole?

Was there a factory or aftermarket piece to plug the hole left by the antenna on my '41 coupe?. My antenna is somewhat mangled, since the radio doesn't work I'd like to remove the antenna, it also interferes with the car cover.

I know for the 1940 there isn't. During resto I welded the hole up and in my opinion it looks better without.

There's no plug for the antenna hole to my knowledge. The only way to close the opening is to weld it closed. You'll have to pull your headliner loose to do it and prevent a possible fire. Temporarily you might use a stock antenna gasket and use some clear windshield sealant to seal it in place. Actually the cheapest way is to buy a new antenna, put it back the way the car came from the factory, and fix the radio.

You could make a plug/filler that was the same shape as the base as the antenna, but flatter to the roof surface. That is what I would do so you don't have to modify the car and could always add an antenna back at a later date.

Restoration Specialties, 814-467-9842, www.restorationspecialties.com has several hole plugs . I don't know how big the hole you are talking about but a couple of examples are PN, 200701PL and PN, 2000724.

Even with the antenna fully retracted its still 8 or 9 inches tall. I may try to cut the sections so they only stick up an inch or so.
