Default Will steam take the slack out of a conv. top?

Inquiring minds need to know.

I usually just back mine out in the sun for a couple of hours, but I would guess the steam would work since the top is cloth. I would try a small hand steamer, keep it moveing.

The same question was answered just 51 minutes before your post.

Years ago, I had a Trim Shop installed a top on my 1966 Mustang convertible.
They used a steam iron and a wet cloth to get the wrinkles out and tightem the fit.
Worked great.

Brian, What do you mean by "slack"? Is the top loosely fit? If it is mere wrinkles from being down too long, I'd suggest steam.
If the top is loose, you may be able to remove the tacks and pull it tighter. You may... However, if you are not experienced, you may be best to seek professional aid.

Yes, the top is about 20 years old but has been well kept.
It is loosely fitting and I assume it has stretched. I did not own it when
the top was new.
Think I will let the tension off for now and try steam next spring.
