12 volt battery for shoebox
I just converted my 50 shoebox to 12 volt(I've had it on 6 volt for the last three years so yes I know 6 volt works just fine), what group series battery fits best in the tray? I searched 12 volt battery on here and I couldn't find anything

Re: 12 volt battery for shoebox
When I had this problem the first time, I took the ruler out of my math book, mearsured the battery box in the car, noted the location of the terminals and took the information (and my ruler) to NAPA.
This way, you can be sure. |

Re: 12 volt battery for shoebox
What is the size of the tray ? I have a spec sheet on battery sizes and can look for a fit.
Or with the tray size, go to Wal-Mart. My Wal-mart has a wide selection of batteries to choose from.

Re: 12 volt battery for shoebox
Measure inside measurements of your battery tray and height needed plus terminal post locations. Then visit your local Walmart and select a battery. I have found them to be very good batteries. Here's why.
https://mechanicbase.com/battery/eve...r%20Batteries? Below is the 12V in my 40. GROUP SIZE is 24. Engine is 1953 8BA with early style heads. https://www.walmart.com/ip/EverStart...mpaign_id=9383 The 4th photo shows that copper sleeve I made to accommodate the (-) cable end. This is an older photo but, the current battery group size is still 24. Last edited by 19Fordy; 06-09-2023 at 11:13 AM. |

I just saw where you can get a group 24 Lithium-Ion battery with 150 amp hours capacity for $1599.

Re: 12 volt battery for shoebox
I have in my notes that I'll be getting a NAPA 7524 for my '51.

Re: 12 volt battery for shoebox
whatever you do use an AGM battery. Yes they cost a little bit more but zero maintenance and as little as we drive our cars they will last forever. I have a group 24 in my 49
