Default Anyone running this supercharger

A friend sent this to me. His friend has ordered one. It looks like it could be modified to use a Weber.

The actual Frenzel is being made here in Oz in Queensland. I believe they hold the patents and all. They are making them for the early V8, but had a prototype Model A at Rattletrap this year (based on the Race of Gentlemen).
It seemed quick on the beach.

This is based, I'm told, from a supercharger made in the UK in the 1930's and 12 were built and 6 stolen. No more were made.

I have one from Aaron but have not had a chance to run it yet. It's based on a small import blower and Aaron makes all the pieces for a bolt on installation with a Model A downdraft manifold.

Just finished installing super charger. Burt’s engine and T5 Very responsive, still tuning. More to come.Fits under hood.

Looks very similar to the one used on the Crosley powered aircraft APU from WW2.

A supercharger runs off the crankshaft and takes power to run. A turbocharger runs off the hot exhaust, heat that is normally thrown away. It does add some back pressure so it is not free. But in my opinion it is a better way to go.

So, does anyone out here run a turbocharger? A turbocharger designed for a small engine would work. Say an engine of 100 cubic inches that runs at 4,000 rpm or 50 cubic inches that runs at 8,000. Maybe a motorcycle engine.

I remember a few years ago people on the Ford Tractor forum I frequented were talking about using a "smog pump" like the ones from the 1970's to force air into the carburetor of their four cylinder tractors. They claimed it made a good improvement. Sort of a poor man's supercharger. Of course, any time you increase the air volume, the fuel volume would need to also be increased to maintain the 14.7:1 air/gas ratio. Lean conditions can be catastrophic.

I saw this somewhere and I thought it was interesting enough to save the picture, but of course I can't remeber where.

Not this one, but my buddy Jamie fitted a Wade RO34 to his Roadster

The head is a "GEM" one of six made in UK by Belcher Engineering

Wades are reasonably easy to get hold of in UK. The last one I bought was £100

One thing to be aware of when fitting a supercharger or turbo charger to your engine is that it would benefit by a change to the cam timing, leaving the intake open longer.

Here is a couple pics of the Loveless Super charger I installed. I had the burns intake but was going to fit under the hood. I bought a weber intake from Mikes afforable A's (ha ha afforable). I have to weld up the weber bolt pattern and drill the Stromberg 97 bolt pattern. I just used a gasket to transfer punch pattern. Everything bolted right up. I just used one slot on the support bracket and there is a bolt hole under the snout. I bought about 6 belts to find the correct length and ended up with B-55, I bought a B-54 also for a backup.
Linkage was next, I had one Burns linkage and thought, bolt 2 of them together might work. It works pedal is kind of hard, i still need to fiddle with it.

I am running a burtz engine, touring cam and high compression head. It fires right up and drives like normal but when you get into it keeps pulling and with the T5 keeping up with traffic is easy.

Really happy with the end results and pretty easy install and looks good.

Any dyno data on the Loveless supercharger? I am curious about the power curve. More low end or high end torque? Mid range? How does the engine behave at low rpm's? An inquiring mind wants to know.

No Dyno data. I am using AFR gauge getting the AFR dialed in and the 45 or 46 jets seemed pretty close. Driving wise the engine is normal when just driving low rpms you could still use in a parade. When you put your foot into the power band is across the board, it pulls all the way through. Without the SC I would climb hills in thid with the T5 transmision. Now 4th it motors up hills no bogging or downshifting. The engine is not louder, it does have intake carb sounds when getting on it. Also blower has slight blower wine sound. Nothing obnoxious.

I forgot to add it does increase operating temperature. Before super charger engine would run 140-160, which is marginally to cold in my opinion. Now with super charger engine is running 190 on 90-degree day. I have heavy duty radiator also.
