Re: Power steering control valve 79 Granada
The control valve has seals at each end. More likely that not, one seal has blown out and the other one is still working. Picture of the control valve, out of my 53', at the bottom, with arrow, but the same basic system was used into the 70's .

The problem is that if you bought a NOS set of seals, they are 42 years old. Below is an article I did previously, that might provide some insight: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showt...RhwPUGJ1GqEwv0 |

Re: Power steering control valve 79 Granada
Been 45 years since I did one but I seem to remember a critical centering adjustment on the spool valve. There are some You tube videos of an early Mustang PS rebuild. Should be the same process.

Re: Power steering control valve 79 Granada
It is done with this nut, which is under the cap in the second picture. If the nut is really tight, back it off and see if that helps.

Re: Power steering control valve 79 Granada
MERC CRUISER was kind enough to post the pages from the WSM on adjusting the valve.

Re: Power steering control valve 79 Granada
The manual says: "Tighten the nut until solid, then back off the nut a 1/4 turn"
