Oil Pan Gasket Installation
The engine is still in the car and I've done all I can do to ensure that the rear main leak is fixed. Now, how do I get that rubber/cork gasket to conform to the rear main cap groove while I'm putting the pan back on?

Soak it in a tuna can of water for a couple days so it gets a curve to it.

Honestly, I have never had that issue with the stuff I buy from Snyders/Brattons. It is always a tight fit but it never wants to pop out. Keep in mind the pan gasket goes under the rear main seal. Where did you get yours from?

I got mine from Snyders. It fits in, but pops out. I have it soaking since last night. Hoping it'll work. They sent 2, why? |

Re: Oil Pan Gasket Installation
Step K in the link Jonvee posted I use Indian Head shellac. It tacks up pretty quick helping it stay in place. If you have trouble with your gasket being what seems a bit too wide for the groove put it in a vise and squeeze it and then quickly put it into the groove in the cap.

Re: Oil Pan Gasket Installation
I clean the groove and use super glue to hold the gasket while I put the sump on.
