Default Loose front seat - is it supposed to latch?

Hi all - just got my 35 fordor touring sedan. I'm sure I'll have several questions, but the first one to come up is the front seat bench. Does it snap into something, or otherwise latch onto something? It sure seems awful loose when I place it under the seatback. I can't see anything, though. Thanks!

Holes in the wood base on the cushion sit over steel pegs on the seat base.
