Default remove windshield 1936 Cabriolet

Good evening from the north of Germany.

I have to change the seal of my windshield because my feet get wet when it rains...:-(

As you can see, I disassembled all the mouldings. How does the windshield come out (without breaking)?

Thanks,
Conrad

Check up under the dash to see if your car has a drain tube in the lower corners of the windshield, I think my 1937 coupe has them. If so there should be a rubber hose that attaches to them and is routed behind the kick panel so that they drain into the cowl area and out onto the running board.

I am not familiar with how the windshield is retained in the opening.

Greetings Conrad from the North of Australia. The windshield frame is secured to the opening with screws from inside the car. You can see the hole locations in my photo with the frame removed.

Thanks Dan for your help from many thousands kilometers away :-)

All the screws are already out, the windshield doesn't
move at all.

Normally there is no glue here, right? I think someone did so...

Or is there any other possibility why it is stuck?

Conrad that’s a very nice cabriolet.
If all the screws are out then they must have used a silicone sealer when they installed it. I don’t know buddy, it will take a fair amount of pressure to get it to release. I think I’d be trying a razor blade down between the frame and the opening to cut any excess silicone?I don’t know what to suggest to eliminate damaging the paint or damaging the frame.

Just a thought. Try to work a strong nylon fishing line between the w/s frame and the body and work it back and forth to try to cut through the silicone without damaging the paint. What do you call it, test line strength? I don't drown worms myself.

Conrad, It looks like you may not have removed the wooden strips in the windshield posts. You have to remove them to get at the last 2 screws holding the windshield frame in place.

Hello @ all, the windshield is out

Thanks to all of you!
I bought a tool set with a metal cutting wire.
Now I have to paint the frame ;-)

On my frame there were no screws at the side thar hold the windshield frame.

As you can see in the pictures, there are two screws at every side, but they just fix the two parts of the frame together.

And I have seen, that I need a second seal that sits directly on the glass.

Have a nice day,
Conrad!
