Default Inside Sun Visor for ALL closed cars

As a daily driver, I find my 1931 Dlx Coupe has a glaring short-coming when the sun gets low on the horizon, and the stock outside visor is of no value in blocking the sun from my vision.

Henry Ford solved this problem in the late '31 slant window Model A's, and from then on in Ford production, with the installation of a inside sun visor, like today's modern cars.

So my question to all the many Ford Barners who do drive their Model A's as a daily driver - has anyone installed an after market (I'm not interested in the pricey reproduction brackets for the Vicky & Slant window cars), modern type interior sun-visor in his Model A ?

For those who have, I would like to know the 'who', 'what', 'when' & 'why' of your choice. I am anxious to install an inside visor and am looking to learn from the 'pioneers' who have installed this important and useful tool to safe driving.

No replies Doug, I think most folks have learned to deal with it the way it is. I use my third hand to block the sun while driving my phaeton.

I have the opposite problem, I can't see traffic lights because I am to tall and have a hard time to see the lights.

But couldn't you just go down to a junk car lot and get a "modern" shade fairly cheap. Then you may have to take off your upholstery above your windshield and put in a wooden block where you want the sun shade in the metal channel up there. The block would give you something to screw the shade to. Just a wild idea for you. It would mess up your upholstery above your window a bit but you would have your shade.

My 31 tudor I went to aircraft supply store at local airport and purchased the peel and remove window tint for small planes. stick on and remove and replace where needed. The strips are cheap and use over and over. Have fun modelAtony tony white Lafayette, LA

In my 31 CCPU I got two out of an older german car (cant remember which one) and mounted them in the wood header above the windshield. they just screwed in with a couple of oval head screws, and they work well. No shafts going into the header like the more modern ones.

A baseball hat or any hat with a visor can be a big help if adjusted right.

My 1930 Townsedan had them in the car when I bought it. The visors look like they belong in the car, they're mounted to the header above the windshield with wood screws.they work well, pivoting in all directions. A ball mounted on both ends of a L shaped rod and the clamps are tighten to the balls to pivot. I'd post pictures, but won't be home from Puyallup for 2 more weeks, I remember that something is stamped on the brackets, ( maybe--Grand Haven, Michigan )

Sorry no recommendations, I'm 6'3" and with longer seat arms my level eye is still at the top frame of the windshield. I think you might have to get creative and take one from another old car and create your own mounting bracket...
