Default Need 2 1939 style engine block petcocks. H10 plugs

I need a couple of petcocks for the 60HP engine project. Anyone have a couple. They just need to look good. Oh, do the 1939 iteration of the H10 plugs have the silver base or blue steel? I'm gonna need a few of those as well. Thanks guys.

Lawson, Plug bases are dark, I have used gun bluing in the past to restore otherwise good plugs.
Good luck on finding a set of the correct "coke bottle" two-rib H 10's. I'd recently sold about 60 of them for "big money".
Perhaps someone has some that are no longer functional??? They would be of little value.

Thanks Kube, I thought I remembered them as being dark, back in the dark ages. Yes, two rib coke bottle plugs are what I need.. They do not have to be functional, just clean up good and look pretty. This is a going to be a display engine, but from what I'm finding inside it looks mighty good to me.

I've got a bunch of parts I got from an old Model A guy's collection that included a bunch of stuff from flatheads as well. Included are some petcocks. I'll look for them when I go down to the shop today. I even think I know where I stashed them which is highly unusual.Any idea what the ones you're looking for look like?

48-8115 see the 35-6 restoration book for a photo.

40-8115 is correct for many 85HP and for many years but the 922A and C with the 60HP of 38-39 calls for 48-8115

See Kube's posting for pictures. I can clean 'em up pretty if you can locate them.

All petcocks are brass or bronze. Those are nice but wrong style for my needs. Thanks for posting.

Is there a vendor that makes/supplies brass petcocks, not necessarily original looking, but would fit a 39 V8 engine?

Gordon ....You might be surprised at what you find at a good hardware store or auto parts store, but here is one that looks reasonably close to the original style if that gets you excited. Click their link BELOW! DD

Hey coopman, you are good with pictures and postings and such. Could you manage to post a picture showing the petcock you came up with for Gordon, and the one Kube posted, side by side, where we can get a better idea of what may be done to machine Gordon's to look more like Kube's

Too dissimilar to "machine" into a fake "real one"! The somewhat SIMILAR style handle tricks the eye into submission. DD

Check out McMaster Carr in Chicago. There's no telling what they might come up with.

Thanks coopman. I have an original "body". I'm tempted to buy one just to see if the valve fits the body.
