well my tape must be made of rubber as its definatly a duel dia and is listed as 3 x 16.75 and 3x 14.75

According to the Ford/Mercury parts book dated May, 1941, the fan is as I described. I have no doubt you are capable of measuring what you have, but that isn't what the parts book lists.

Could be an Australian thing, here in NZ they measure as per Jack's measurements, ours are sourced from Canada
However, it is possible to fit a spacer betwix fan hub and and of crank pulley flange to position the fan closer to radiator.

we could debate this till the cows learn to fly and it wont change if i raise the fan drive i will need to change the fan FULLSTOP & duel dia fans dont work with shrouds especially when they have tapered tips & crank drive fans are rubber mounted not bolted so there is no way they can be interchanged all that remains is to workout the second part about the radiator height of any replacement truck or tropical cores as there is some wiggle room in that area
