Yes. When I installed only the Posie 39 inch reversed eye spring #2040 in my completely stock 40 coupe the front end was lowered 1 inch with no problems of any kind including turning radius or tire clearance. Go ahead with your idea. Here's a photo right after spring was installed. Tires and wheels are stock 1940 Ford. You can see a very slight rake. Over time the spring will settle, lowering the car about 1/2 in. more.

I used Posies spring on my 41 pickup. When I called them I was cautioned that the spring lowers the front from the stock height. Because of age the front may already be lower that stock so the spring won't give the full drop. I also changed to tube shocks using Speedways kit. The front wheels are original with 215 75R16 tires.I get a little rub at full lock. I also removed the steering stop cap nut so with them installed it might not rub. Hope this helps.

lowered a 40 coupe for a friend with a posie spring, car had tube shocks already and we discovered that the shocks were almost bottmed out-we made some top shock mounts about 2" taller and fixed the problem, also the factory bump stops ma need to be looked at

I fitted a de-arched reversed eyed front spring on my 40 coupe..I also fitted a 4" dropped axle...it was too low.It looked fantastic but the front "chin" hit the kerb backing out onto the road and on full lock the tyres hit the fenders.I ,at first ,fitted a 1" packer to raise the front but in the end fitted the stock Ford spring pack to the reversed eyed spring main leaf.

I should probably left the original axle in the car and just fitted the new spring as bought....hindsight it a marvellous thing.
