Default Video of flathead build and dyno test

https://www.powernationtv.com/episod...tty-3-deuce-v8

Interesting video where they built what I would consider a high dollar flat head and put it on a Dyno. I would’ve thought they would’ve got a bit more horsepower. They didn’t measure squish in the video. I wonder if they skipped some of the detailed steps?

It actually should be titled : "How to spend the most money building a flathead".

I'll reserve comment on the rest.

.

This is also a perfect example showing that those guys we've all run into at the local "Tasty Freeze" hot rod get-together with those 200 and 250 horsepower flatheads are full of "it"! DD

Exactly . . . when they're probably making more like 125 HP . . . maybe!

What would a 53 mercury engine dyno at? The factory called it 125hp. How did ford measure it?

250 hp has been done many times but not with 3 carbs and a "3/4" cam.
I didn't even watch the video and that made me giggle.

In JWL's book, he got 79. 6 on a 239. Never got over 100 until he installed a cam. Had one of my 276/L-100 engines back in the 90s At 135 hp@4800. Not bad??

I know of one stock block 292 cube Ford flathead {intake and exhaust ports located in original location} normally aspirated that's over 200 HP using one four barrel carb burning gasoline. However it is expensive ones weekly allowance needs to be rather high to afford such a powerhouse.
