I heard sometimes the farmers actually wet the roads so they could make some cash from those city slickers with the fancy cars! Do you think this was the case here?

That's pretty good.........two horse pulling a Model T and a Model A. That farm trailer looks like it was made from the chassis of a Model T.

My dad tells the story of my grandfathers brand new 1928 Model A that made it from the dealer to 5 miles out of town before the crank broke. He called my uncle and with the team towed the car home. The picture perfectly represents what I have always thought it looked like.

William Faulkner's last novel, The Reivers, is the very best story about the early days of motoring. He strings together a tale of the first car in town and the men who fall instantly in love with for its mechanical beauty or for the freedom that it promises. Along the way he describes the primal roads, river crossing pirates, and heroic adventures of a relatively modest "road trip." If you haven't read it yet, you have a treat in store!

Pat, this picture reminds me of the the time in 1962 when I pulled my first Model A from Frankfort, KY to Lompoc, CA. with a VW beetle. At one point I got stuck in the mud when I pulled over for a dinner break and had to unhook the cars and pull the beetle out with the "A." The two cars are in one of my albums.
