Default Help identify transmission

Ok, so I don't own a Model A yet! lol I do work on three for a friend down the road. He has a 29,30, and a 31. None of which look like much. They run most of the time when they leave my shop.. lol

Anyway the current unit has a transmission that I have no idea what it is and if it really belongs or not. It looks like to me the frame was hacked up and someone put a truck rear end under it. I am by far no expert but it looks like a hi-lo trans to me. I did some research but just got more confused. The back shifter housing is broke away from its mount and he wants me to try to weld it or stabilize it somehow. I am just more curious as to what it is and how it should work. Thanks in advance.

It could be something like this. How about a picture of the transmission and rear axle.

The Rocky Mountain would have been mounted at the back end of the driveshaft.

Not good pictures but they might work. Seems I saw a picture on the web of this setup in an old truck.

Well the rear end is a 28 29 worm drive from an AA. I have a hi lo trans and that rear one isn't it.
