Default Stewart Warner Horn Wiring

I just acquired an SW horn that works, but I’m fairly sure the coils have been re-wound for 12 volts. It works quite well on 12 volts, but not nearly so well on 6 volts.

I recall reading an article about rewinding horn coils and seem to remember that 6 volt horn coils have about 50 turns of wire and 12 volt coils have twice that.

2 questions -
1. Do the coils appear to be wound for 12 volts ?
2. Can I just unwind half the turns to convert it back to 6 volts ?

Many thanks - Jim
