Default Engine block shipping

I am planning to ship a Model A engine block from Southern Califonia to Bend, OR to a Model A person who has a cottage industry babbitting engine blocks and rods. I need to build a wooden crate. Any advice on design plans would be appreciated. Photos would also be welcomed.

If I remember, one of the Model A web sites had the blue prints on how to build one. If I can find it I will post. If not just look at some of the "standard" A web sites.

I used the crate design from Antique Auto Engine Rebuilding and had not problem. Simple to make with scraps of plywood. I used dog chain inside to bolt it down in place with some foam pipe insulation. I fit the block with crank and cam shaft in place. The short block came back rebuilt in the same crate without problems.

I have used Antique Engine Rebuilding's pattern. Shipped about 6 of them last year with no problems. Its an easy box to make too.

Taylor Engine in Whittier might save you a bunch of $s

They mostly are known for flathead and four banger motors, iirc. I think they pour babbits.
