1936 locking spare
What do you do about missing keys for a 36 pickup locking spare? Art

Can you gain access to the locking cylinder and can you find the code (ie FK123)??

If it is on the vehicle -- it will be hard to do.
If it is off the vehicle, just remove the snap ring and push in the lock tabs and remove from cover. Use a small slot screw driver to remove the set screw and the lock comes out of the housing and you can gain the lock code from the cylindar as Don mentions. |

The mount is off the truck but the spare is locked on the mount. Art

If you can flip the cover to expose the lock, I should think that if you brought the spare to a lock smith he would be able to open the lock.

No problem w/my '36 half-ton years ago. Key shop had blanks; made me a spare. Truck was a FoMoCo dealer demo in 1936 w two spares, same lock & key for both locking hubcaps. Never trouble getting EFV8 keys made since 1960. Last edited by highbeams; 03-27-2022 at 12:09 AM. |
