Default Ford Script Axle Keys

I just removed these from a very nice early 32 rear end. I've never seen them before, but saw some discussion of them with the Model A guys.

Are these carry over Model A parts, or how long did Ford stamp them?

Little details like these are part of what interests me in working on old Fords.

Just damn. I can't even post a picture and you post one so big I have to slide the thing back and forth on the monitor screen to see it all. LOL

I've encountered them both in used and NOS form. Given how hard they are, they must have been stamped before heat treating.

I have not found any axle keys to be hardened, but I have not seen the script keys, since I usually work on 34-40. Usually just 1/4" key stock.

Terry, like you, I'd never seen any script keys.
And, while I'd never tested the hardness of a key, they do file easy enough so i can't imagine they are "too hard".

Those are kind of cool . . . haven't noticed (nor paid enough attention) to see this in the past. Thanks for sharing.
