Default 52 F1 Steering box problem

Have the steering box apart and cleaned. I cant figure out a way to remove the top bearing retainer from the housing. The way it is installed I cannot get a slide hammer to grip the retainer cup to remove.
Any ideas?

If you are talking about the bearing cup, you zap it with a welder, and after it cools it will shrink and fall out

You can make a punch out of some steel bar stock with a curved end to catch the lip but it’s a lengthy process to knock it out. I have also used a mig and laid two beads all the way around and you are done once it cools. That is how I remove the front wheel bearing cups as well.
