Default 32 Ford door lock cylinder

I lost the contact information of the man who rebuilds and re keys 32 lock cylinders. He did a couple for me several years ago and they worked good. Can anyone help? I need another one done. Thanks

Likely 32Phil of upstate New York. I highly recommend him, however he may have escaped to Florida for the winter.

You might have to wait until April unless you contact the other locksmith who is a member here.

I'm in no hurry, I won't need the cylinder until early summer.

32 Phil has done some work for me also. even though he is down south, i'll bet he visits the barn occasionally, and a PM would get his attention to get the ball in motion.

John McClure "FlatHeadCoupe" did all the locks for my '40. Excellent work and had them back to me in a week...

Thanks for the compliments. Welcome all lock work/questions from '32 to '56.
Many handles, column drops, and lock assemblies in stock, all OEM, some NOS parts.
"cut-keys-to-code", but better to have lock in hand for tweaking.
Regards,
FlatHeadCoupe

I have a door lock cylinder that I need keyed to the ignition key. Anybody know how to disassemble the door lock cylinder on these old Fords?

Usually if you look in the door jamb in the area where the lock enters the door you will spot a small hole in the jamb. In that hole you will spot a set screw. That screw holds the lock assembly in the door. Many times that screw has been in there for a long time so you need to use something like PB Blaster to soak it to try to get it loose. If the set screw has a slot for a regular screw driver be very careful not to put too much pressure when trying to loosen the screw. Once the set screw is backed out the lock assembly can be pulled out. If one side of the slot breaks off you are basically doomed to ever get the lock out.

Yes, I have the lock cylinder removed. My question was regarding the lock cylinder itself. I have seen that the later Ford lock cylinders have an easy to remove cover holding the pins and springs in and removing that cover and rearranging the pins allows one to rekey the lock.

The lock I have has a cover but I have no idea how to open it up. I only have one ignition key so I am hesitant to mail it off with the cylinder to have the cylinder rekeyed plus I like to attempt to do things myself if it is possible.

Does your lock cylinder have a code stamped on the side. It should have 2 letters followed by 3 numbers...FD123 for example. If you have that you can get a key cut with out too much trouble.
