Default Probably hogwash

At a swap meet today.

Overheard an old hot rodder with a bit of model A and V8 stuff on the ground ......say to a dude that Henry tested some V8/s in model A/s before the 32 Model car was introduced.

Any truth in this ?

Why wouldn't it be true, while the model 'T' was still rolling off the production lines, the '49 models were in development.

Ford wanted to use a V8 for the model A but his early stabs at a V8 were lacking in power and reliability. He also still had an obsession with the X8 which was a dismal failure. It took them a while to get the horse power up on the 200 CID 4-cylinder that they ended up having to use but it was reliable and easy to repair. It definitely had more power and potential than the model T 4-banger. No more weird magneto system with timer and finally a water pump to help with cooling.

51Merc:
Wonder what the guys working on those cars
thought about that 'strange looking" car parked nearby?
Is that fellow in the suit and hat Henry Ford?
Still pretty humorous.
