Maybe the solution is to charge all Barners a yearly stipend like $20 dollars.

Never saw that at the bottom that others have mentioned.
Lately when I first bring up the website I get an ad. Usually a ford truck dealer.
After I Cross it out I never see another ad.

I have to admit that the ads don't bother me that much if it keep this site up and running. Vintagemustang.com forum used them to support the site and I would click on them every now and then to help keep the site up and going.

Ryan.....this site has educated me to no end....whatever it takes to keep it going....if it’s a little ad at the bottom of the page, I’ll deal with it.

Now....is this a good time to bring up the T-shirt thing again?!?!?!..........Mark

As the great majority of members never post, an annual fee would drive them away. Perhaps those members who find membership profitable might contribute a token fee.
The $20 mentioned earlier might be a little high, so maybe $10 ? I don't sell, but I find it profitable in knowledge gained!

I appreciate it y'all... Sincerely, I do... I *think* I got this though... I should be able to clear enough ad revenue on logged off users to make this place float. And like I said, if that doesn't work I can always do some less aggressive ads for logged on users. I'm not all that worried about it at the moment.

This sticky footer ad was only meant to be viewable by those logged off. I screwed something up in implementation and it displayed to users that were logged on... That's all.

The only thing that bothered me were the long-time users that responded with, "I am gone until that ad is removed!" Seems like the appropriate response would be something more along the lines of, "Hey, that ad is annoying... Think we could do something else?"

I don't mind at all when someone disagrees with me... But it bothers me when someone is straight up disrespectful over a service that I provide them for absolutely nothing in return. I mean, I have an ego...

There is a 2" sidebar on each side of the forum(at least on my computer) and ads in the sidebar would not be as bothersome as they are at the top or bottom. Can't speak for others, but ads in the sidebar are more easily ignored.

I like the fact that the $20 may drive away a number of folks. Similar to a door cover charge at nice establishments... that cover charge is meant to discourage certain elements.
Still, $10 may be easier on younger folks... either way, I'm, more than willing to pay whatever Ryan may deem fair.

I sincerely appreciate the thought... I just don't think I like the idea of charging folks... My ultimate goal is to keep early Ford stuff alive and drive more people into it.

I guess I'm in the minority but, if the pop up adds provide $$$ to keep this site afloat, I think the annoyance factor is worth it. I'd rather have the adds, than an annual fee.

Ryan, I would like to add my thanks for removing the adds.

I very much appreciate how you think and what motivates you.

It's a truly great site and I access it, all most every day.
