Weak spark/6volt
First, forgive me if tnis question has been asked alot. Ive got a 48 block with a crab distributer. Dist was set up on a Sun machine. Everything is new. Tried 2 new umiversal coils. Condensor from a 52 chevy(i know). New wiring. Generator rebuilt. And i cant get hot spark. New resistor under dash too. Piss poor orange spark. When it does fire up, it barely runs. Straightens out for awhile then stumbles and dies. Points are firing, but just faint orange spark.

Re: Weak spark/6volt
Assuming the condensor is good , i would check the coils primary resistance as well as the resistor resistance. On a six volt system this is even more crutial than on a 12 volt unit.
Coil resistance should be approx .5 ohm ( thats one half ohm) and the coil resistor should be about the same or less. Spark color is often changed by resistor cables as well, you using solid wires or resitor??? |

Re: Weak spark/6volt
Is your car set up for 6 or 12V? If setup for 6V make sure your coil is 6V and not 12V. Do these coils have internal resistors? Check voltage reading at wire coming from ignition to coil. Also, make sure coil is not wired backwards. If ignition hot wire is connected to secondary and wire going to distributor is connected to primary, this will give you a weak spark.
