Re: Cylinder Head
It's probably an 8RT truck engine. The only difference between that and the 8BA car engine is the 8RT has all 16 hard valve seats and 8BA only have hard int. seats. Walt

Re: Cylinder Head
The best heads are the EAB heads , 52-53 Ford, small combustion chambers. Walt

Re: Cylinder Head
There is a time line here that fits MOST of the production. The early 48 8RT,8BA, 8CM had harden seats in both the intake and exhaust, by 49 the 6BA only had harden seats in the exhaust. Not sure about the 8CM. Most 8RT engines had hardened seats in both. In late 51 the EAB engine had no seats and induction harden exhaust seats. Now with this said, you never know where the block comes from after 60 plus years, even the factory made exceptions and there's always Canada.

Re: Cylinder Head
No, the EAC and EAB heads are not the same CR. I have not seen a block with seat rings only at the intake valves. But, I have seen them with only exhaust seat rings and none at the intake, or none at all, or both holes with rings.

Re: Cylinder Head
Here's a thing, I got a 99A here, seats on the exhaust only, no inlet seats. That don't seem to follow normal pattern, these earlier engines normally had both seats I believe.
I don't think you can assume anything with this old Ford stuff. Martin. |
