Steering wheel size?
With my motor set back 4", an aluminium radiator and a lightweight speedster body, I can easily turn the steering lock to lock whilst stationary.
Was there ever a smaller steering wheel made for the Model A? Many thanks Keith |

Re: Steering wheel size?
There was, it was referred to as a Fat Man steering wheel and was not round.

Re: Steering wheel size?
The Model A wheels are generally 17" diameter. Model T wheels CAN fit - and those that do (keyway generally) are mounted upside down and are 16" diameter.
In my buying a barn fresh steering wheel on Ebay described as "model A or model T steering wheel" I had to research the difference. The same seller had a nearly identical but slightly smaller wheel with exactly the same description. I measured my own Model A wheel and was able to set both him and myself straight as to what exactly he was selling. Joe K

Re: Steering wheel size?
I see another seller on Ebay is selling a "true" model T wheel. Yunno, the one with the inverted spokes and used with a reduction gear between the wheel and the steering shaft.
He reports this to be 15" diameter. But this likely could be hub adapted to a forward spoke tilt (more like the Model A) and would give you more room. This one a little pricey - but look around. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1912-Ford-Mo...eb53a8&vxp=mtr Joe K

Smaller wheel and adapt it. Just a thought. |
