Question Accelerator pedal location?

I guess it's a dumb question, but Right Hand Drive cars have their accelerator pedal between the clutch and brake pedal, but when I study photos of cars for sale on EBay the Left Hand Drive cars appear to have their accelerator pedal to the right of the brake pedal?
If this is correct, it would make sense of the floor board pattern which does not appear to have a hole or slot for the accelerator pedal between the brake and clutch pedal slots?
Cheers,
Keith

Yep, it's to the right of the brake pedal. Your set up looks awkward to me. Is it? Bill W.

Yes, all RHD Model A's had the gas pedal between brake & clutch & no, it is not difficult if that is what you have always known.
I think they did it for lack of toe space to the right from the brake with the narrow '28 '29 cowl.
It is quite possible to rig up a pedal linkage that would fit for a '30 '31 as there is more foot room with the wider cowl. But then it would not be original if that is what you wanted.

You learn something new every day. I have seen center-throttle cars before, but had no idea that right-hand-drive Model As were set up the way.

I would love to see a photo of your pedal arrangement.

That's fascinating. Do they all have round footpads on the clutch and break? And where is the starter button?

Thanks for the pics.

You can order the round brake and clutch pedal rubbers from a place in New Zealand. I haven't seen any new heads for the pedals being produced to weld on like the lhd cars.

The round rubber pedal covers are certainly still available here in NZ ; I have had them on my car since the late '60's.
In 1928, the RHDs had oval pedals like LHD, but they went to round ones with the single plate clutch. Also the first RHD's had the same type starter pedal as LHD but a different linkage was designed from early 1929 which mounted on the same holes as the LHD throttle assembly. This placed the starter pedal closer to the RHD driver ; a hole is punched in the lower firewall.

The starter actuator assembly is mounted to the back sida of the engine block where the LH drive cars have the gas pedal assembly mounted. The round starter button can be seen in my picture just to the left of the clutch pedal.

Learned something new, thanks for posting, never thought about a different order than what all the usa cars use! Just thought it was on the other side. Again thanks for posting.
