oh our snow doesnt usually stick around either - when it does fall they overload the streets with salt so that sticks around all winter, dont get a whole lot of rain in the winter but like i said mixed with the salt its 50X worse...Usually just stays cold.

1. change oil
2. check anti-freeze
3. jack stands under axles
4. charge battery [then remove charger]
5. shut off fuel and run carb empty
6. pour a bit of oil in cylinders
7. cover exhaust outlet and carburetor inlet [if not using a filter]
8. cover vehicle with something light and breathable
9. dryer sheets or whatever you like for keeping critters out. I don't do this.

It'll be ready and waiting for a bath and a ride come spring.

Same in NW Illinois. And, I'm like Tom W. No way are any of the antique cars going out on an Illinois roadway after the first snow hits. Roads stay salt dust all winter. Looks like you are driving down a gravel road. That will creep into all and any cracks or crevices. And like Tom does, I wait until there are at least two HARD rains in the spring before I venture out. You still see white salt in the cracks in the pavement after only one light rain.

Depends upon the weather but usually the old car season ends around the middle of November maybe Thanksgiving, until the middle of April around here............ I cringe when I see my neighbor get his really nice '62 SS Impala out when the roads are still white with salt.

Dump a full can of STP into the crankcase with 40 grade oil and start the engine. When it's warmed up, fog the upper cyls with a50% gas/oil mix with some STP in that oil and with gas turned off (but still running) squirt into the carburetor till it dies. Why? Well STP cannot be completely wiped off steel surfaces and it will stay as a coating on parts longer than anything else. The things I've be taught to worry about in an engine sitting are the cam and valve train. In my limited experience, Mod A valves are very prone to rusting in the guides. Over time, these valves can rust pretty fast. Someone remarked that a cam had acquired some pits rendering it unusable. This is what I try to avoid.

Remove the battery and put in a warm place and hook up a trickle charger. If there is any corrosion on the cables or box neutralize it and spray on an anti corrosive product. Protect the engine and tires but not the battery? CRAZY
