Question Distributor cam

I had fitted an all new distributor from Snyders and when I finally fired the motor up, I could not get it to run perfectly smoothly. There was more vibration than expected (despite very thorough balancing) and it never seemed to be pulling on all four cylinders.
Always setting the points gap on number 1 when checking the timing, it did not occur to me to check the gap on the other 3 lobes.
Finally with the assistance of friend who is more thorough than me, we discovered that when number one was set at 20 thou, 2, 3 & 4 were giving 30thou plus.
The cam was either ground incorrectly or off centre.
I purchased a new cam, described as "12210S Much improved longer dwell for better running engine engineered by professional Model A Engine specialist." and the difference was a revelation.
The motor was much smoother without vibration, revved more freely and had more power.
I could not believe that the distributor cam could have such an effect, both good & bad

I've had the exact same experience. I am using a distributer cam from Stipe now, and as you stated, WHAT AN IMPROVEMENT.
