Default Newbie Help

Well I just bought my first T, a '23 touring. I have been around the forum a bit as an A owner but now thirst for info on the T. I have done several searches on this forum looking for technical publications. I am looking for advice on what the best manuals to have for maintaining the T are. I have Murray Farnstock's book but need to see what else is available. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Model T Ford Service
Model T Service Bulletins
MTFCA Publication "The Engine"
MTFCA Publication "The Ford Carburetor"
MTFCA Publication "The Model T Ford Transmission"
MTFCA Publication "The Model T Ford Front & Rear Axles"

Instruction Manual for 1915-1925

The first book is the "Bible". It actually shows how to disassemble and re-assemble the car, step by step. The bulletins are the materials the garages and dealers were issued to show how to repair and maintain certain things about the car. The last are the materials researched and printed by the Model T Ford Club of America.

All of the above can be purchased from either Snyder's, Lang's or Mac's and other smaller dealers.

Will covered most of the important references. This link has a little additional information. The Model T Encyclopedia is especially helpful in determining what's "correct". How is your touring different from a 1922 or a 1924? The Encyclopedia has that and a lot more.

I like Bruce McCaulley's (sp?) book also. This book is great for describing changes over the years and the pictures are very helpful. Not sure if it is being reprinted, but you can always find a used copy or try the wanted section. Good luck.

Hi Mort I'm a newbie as well. Like you have done a bit with A's over the years having had four all up -Still have my 1930 Phaeton . I've just brought a 1913 Tourer and am loving it. The thing I love most about it is the T's sheer drivability. I also have a 1910 Hupmobile but would never contemplate using it like I use the T. Spare parts for the Hup are non existent while T parts are in many cases easier to get than modern parts . As I write this I am sitting in my office at work and the T is parked outside my window !

I searched Amazon for Bruce McCaulley, but got nothing. Can you give me the title of the book?
Thanks

Bruce McCalley's book, Model T Ford, The Car That Changed The World, is being reprinted by Krause Publications. http://krausebooks.com It's also available on CD along with a huge amount of other Model T reference material known as the Model T Encyclopedia. My link in the previous post tells where to get it. I have the CD on a laptop which I take in the car when I go to swap meets and auctions, so I can look things up before I buy them.

There were also a couple of volumes put out called "tinkering tips" that have a lot
of good information and an easier way to do things plus a lot of good ideas.
All of the above should be in your library and you will soon know all you need to enjoy
and repair your car.
I think every car collector should have a Model T in their collection.
They are a very special car you will develop a relationship with like no other car.

Enjoy........
