Re: Dual exhaust for a 36 slant
Here's a couple options. One is in a 34 and the other in a 35. G.M.

Yes I made 6 or 8 for my own use only, I don't sell them. G.M.

Re: Dual exhaust for a 36 slant
I'm at the EFV8C/A eastern national meet in Saratoga Springs. I saw a '36 coupe on the show field, Touring A Class, with an Optima battery mounted in the engine compartment like G.M. is showing in his pictures. The owner used a military ammunition box to make his battery box. It made a very nice looking box for an Optima 6V red top battery.

Got a great pair of Smithy mufflers too. Used a specialist exhaust shop that normally only build exhausts for race cars. Tried a pair of RHD Red's headers which were nicely made but the right side header didn’t clear the RHD steering box, so had the whole lot, including the headers made our of 2 inch stainless. The right pipe (my battery is on the right side under the driver’s feet) just cleared the outside of the battery box. I had quite a small battery anyway, but I made up a heat shield out of thick aluminum and a 6x6 sheet of asbestos I had sitting on a shelf in the shed. I even wrapped the part of the exhaust pipe running near the batter in a heat wrap... Works a treat and those smithy mufflers sound just great! Colin |

Re: Dual exhaust for a 36 slant
I have the battery in the passenger side of the trunk in a marine/boat battery box in the 34. Works great as I don't use the rumble seat anyway. The box has a lid held on by a strap that also holds the box in place.

Re: Dual exhaust for a 36 slant
I put my battery in a marine battery box behind the passenger seat, with a strap that is bolted through the floor. I ran the cables through the floor using heavy grommets to protect the cables. I made "W" shaped S.S clamps to bolt the cables to the underside of the floor.

Re: Dual exhaust for a 36 slant
The shorter the cables the better. 2/0 short cables work best for full cranking power on 6 volts. G.M.
