1923 oil lamps
I am looking for a set of oil lamps for my 1923 touring car (brackets are all that's left). I have been looking on ebay and Craigslist etc. but am wondering if there is anyone making reproduction of those lights. This is not a show car so I am not that fussy that they be original, just want to get some back on there. Any ideas would be great.
Thanks |

The hot rodders make some cheesy repops, but they aren't nice. There are thousands of originals around. Check with other T guys near you.

Try posting in the want ads here and some of the other T sites. Side oil lamps are on ebay all the time. Cost wise most are in the ball park price wise and even if you find a set through the classifieds you will still have to pay shipping.

Re: 1923 oil lamps
Last year I paid $5 for one at a local auction. You'll pay more than that on Ebay, but as Jack says, there are a lot of them around.

Re: 1923 oil lamps
That's why I love estate sales and farm auctions. Split rim spreaders usually cost $30 or more. A couple of years ago I saw one in a pile of stuff at an auction. Probably because nobody else knew what it was, I bought the pile for a dollar. A few years ago at a farm auction I bought seven wire wheels for $10. One T wheel, three Model A, and a couple of V-8. I thought $1.37 a wheel was a pretty good price. That kind of thing doesn't happen every time, of course, but it happens often enough to keep me going to sales.

Re: 1923 oil lamps
Mort,
There are 18 of them on eBay right now. None are getting many bids & the starting price looks to be about $100 a pair. http://motors.shop.ebay.com/i.html?_...5&_sop=1&_sc=1

Re: 1923 oil lamps
Hi Mort Go to Amherst N.H. auto flea market in the spring. The last sunday of every month. You will find them there. Its best to get there early. And look for one at a time to get the best price. I got two for less then $50.00. They have a lot of T parts there.
