'32 style gas tank on a Model A

I recently saw a '32 style gas tank on a Model A. It had a nice sheet metal cover that blended it in and made it appear to be original. Is there a source for these?

Speedway has a 32 gas tank for a Model A. I believe Brookville has one in their catalog but I’m not sure they have it on their online store, you may have to call. There is an outfit in Oregon that has a 32 gas tank for a Model A but I have to check my files.

I would check with So Cal Speed shop and other hot rod shops in Southern Cal. too.

I think it’s a cool alternative to the old rusty Model A gas tanks. I’m thinking of using it on my 30 Roadster project.

A standard 16 gallon racing fuel cell will fit under the back of a model A and you can't see it if you have a trunk. There is provision for a gauge also.

Fuel pump will over power the float since the carb is meant for gravity feed .

I can see some advantages and disadvantages in doing this. First, I would not do it with my present car because I want to keep it fairly original. But it would open up the cowl area on a Model A for all kinds of things, like a radio, or an air conditioning evaporator and fan. The 32 tank needs to be protected in case of a rear end crash, maybe converting it over to a fuel cell if that is possible. I already have a fuel pump for my Weber so that would not be an issue.

It would be a good add-on for touring in remote areas. W/2 tanks one can get twice as far from the nearest gas station.

Would this conversion be for your sedan? Don't see it on "A" sedans very often and much different than on coupes or roadsters due to the
shorter body subframe and more inner fender exposure. Also it requires a totally different, non stock bumper setup. I may have a picture of a sedan conversion if you're still interested.

Most likely the same electric fuel pump I am using to feed my Holley/Webber downdraft.

Not all Model A's still use the one bolt updrafts.
