The screws are flat & slotted head wood screws, #12 and 1" long. I broke the heads off trying to remove the original screws, so I moved the screw locations a bit with a patch panel.

By the way, if you look hard at the picture, you can see the original paint on my 190A. The wheel wells were originally painted Ford Maroon and over-coated with black.

Thanks Bob, that's what looks like is there or whats left of them. The holes are a bit bigger now so I will have to close them up.

Here are pictures of the screw in the bottom of body rear fender area. This is the first time that the screw has been removed from my Victoria.

You can use a hollow core drill bit to get the screw out then epoxy in a piece of hardwood dowel. Sand it flush and use the stock holes with no repair showing.

I enjoyed reading this thread. It shows the need for attention to detail, detail which was not performed on my Victoria. The quarter panels on my car have the damaged holes you describe but the problem was ignored and covered with underbody paste. The damage is further covered by installing the wheels! But, I bought the car anyway. The paint job was very good and the motor was recently rebuilt. Not much more I can say. I am disgusted every time I have to remove the wheels. Ed
